World at War & The Christian Advocate

It is no secret that the world is on a war sled. We have been on a consistent heist of all things
chaos, from coup d'états in West Africa to government-funded violence in East Africa,
rounding off with constant war in Europe and the Middle East. As Christians, we may ask
ourselves, where is God? Is He on a business retreat? Did He leave an intern in charge? Have
we been forsaken? The good news is God is present now more than ever.
You can easily change the war situation or the chaos you or your friends are experiencing.
That would have been nice, right? Truth is, as Christians, we have been called to be more
than just reactors to situations. God has called us to be faithful stewards of all that He has
given to us. God, who is sovereign above all, has privileged us by granting us permission
to collaborate with Him in his works.
As we work for the things of God and obey His
commands, we will inevitably come into contradiction with a secular government. Once this
happens, our immediate response should be prayer followed by obedience to God’s word
and revelations to you. We as Christians should refrain from emotion-driven vengeance
and actions. Let us not act against authority just because. Our disobedience to authority
should only occur when the authority wants us to transgress God’s commands. In this, we
honor God’s delegation of authority.
Chaos ⇨ Prayer ⇨ Obedience
“Let every person be subject
to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority
except from God, and those
that exist have been instituted
by God.” – Romans 13:1
