Romans Chapter 13( Authority Given by God)

Reflection

For some reason, we as humans from a young age had a strong inclination to go against the authorities. If we ever need a sign to know that we are indeed fallen, this will be one. Paul reminds us in Romans chapter 13 from verse one that there is no authority given to anyone on this earth that is not given to them by God, in that God is sovereign in all situations that he, in his sovereignty, ordains certain individuals to be in certain positions 

We are called to obey the authorities, as our obedience to these authorities is obedience to God, and resistance to these authorities is a resistance to God

Now I will say this quickly just so that we don’t get it twisted there are times when we must disobey authorities, and that is when the authorities require us to do something that God has told us not to do or the authorities require us not to do something that God has told us to do in both those cases we must disobey the authorities and that’s what we recommended to buy the Bible for their time and even the authorities fall shot of the mark and standard God is set for their position

That in mind, we still must give and obey the authorities, whether that means paying taxes, driving the speed limit, and everything it entails. We ought to represent God as his children in an excellent, upright manner, and we should be the best citizens in our countries

We are also called to love everyone around us just as we love ourselves, and if we do love ourselves, we will not seek to harm ourselves, so the same care and attention we give to ourselves, we ought to also give to our neighbors and those around us, loving them, genuinely from our hearts with sincerity in this way, we will be fulfilling the Commandments of God

Let us wake up from the sleep, this world and it system so pushes and desires us to go into for the kingdom of God is at hand the days here and this is what Paul reminds us that salvation is nearer to us today so let us take the opportunity to take the step each of us to get closer to God to obey him to live in his presence under his authority for his glory

Now, lastly, Paul gives us our marching orders and our formation; we ought to put on the armor of light and put off every walk of darkness. We are commanded to put on our Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for our flesh. This is a daily death to self, a daily leaning on God, and a daily pursuit of the things of God.
