Verse Annotation
Verse 1 - 10 - In all that we do, be it fasting or eating vegetables or meat. All MUST BE DONE UNTO THE LORD. If to one wearing green brings glory, then wear it fully; if to one wearing red brings glory to God, then wear it fully. In all things may our heart be hinged on a self-righteous spree. Instead, may our hearts always seek to please God and give him glory.
Verse 11 - 12 - There is the All Father, the Almighty, to whom we will all be accountable on the day of judgment
Verse 13 - I’m all that we do; we ought to propel our brothers and sisters into more of the Kingdom than putting stumbling blocks in their journey towards more of God.
Verse 14 - 19 - In love, we ought to sacrifice and live with each other; doing what motivates all for good according to the will of God. Do not flaunt what you perceive as good in front of your fellow believer’s face who perceives it as evil. Instead, in love, let us strive to walk righteously as far as we can according to the will of God.
Verse 20 - 23 - All that we do must proceed from faith. If you know putting on a short skirt is wrong, yet you force yourself to do it, you have committed a sin, for all that does not proceed from faith is a sin. Let us show the love of Christ by making sure that which is Adiaphorous to us, according to God, does not cause those around us to stumble. Things such as drinking or dancing or wearing makeup, should not be done from a heart of showing how righteous one is, but from a place of true faith and submission in joy to the Law of God for His glory
Reflection
It is very easy to be caught up in a self-righteous spree the society we live in and encourages people to be themselves do what you feel like when you feel like it how you feel like it, but the Bible commands us to consider others even as we proceed, the things of God not so that we negotiate the laws of God or compromise what God commands us to do, but so that those things that are Adiaphorous for us do not lead the brothers and sisters of faith around us into sin
We all grew up in different cultures, different communities, with different family values; to some, eating meat is not a sin, but to others, eating meat might very well be a sin. In those instances, we have to consider the needs of our wake up Brother above our own needs, especially when the thing on the table of debate is Adiaphorous to us, meaning it’s neither good nor evil, it just is
So where are we drink whether we dance whether we blink 10 times or five times everything we do must be done for the glory of God according to his law and according to what he commanded us to do if in fact, a fellow brother or sister, he’s doing something that the Bible clearly stipulate is a sin then we must correct them, but if a brother or sister does not want to do something they believe is sin, then let us know project our own righteousness onto them, and cost them to do that which will be sin to them
Prayer
Thank you, Jesus Christ, for your love, mercy, and Grace. Thank you for saving us from all sin, and you have imputed your righteousness onto us, taking away all inequities. We pray to Jesus today that you may reveal to us errors in our life where we have projected our own righteousness onto others areas in our life where we have said something to be evil when you haven’t said, so we pray that you may forgive us. We pray to the Lord that you may forgive us for the times when we did something we believed to be evil, as we know that everything that doesn’t come from Faith is sin. Guide that speech, guide our actions, and help us to walk according to your ways and according to your commandments, that in our conversations, in our actions, in our activities, in our careers, in our education, in our social groups, we will do everything for the glory of God.
In Jesus Christ’s mighty name I pray, Amen.
