Matthew 2:13

"When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. ‘Get up,’ he said, ‘take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.’"

Obedience is better than sacrifice; these were the words of Samuel to King Saul. Immediate obedience to the word of God is vital to our survival and life. Obeying the voice of God and His direction for our lives allows us to take part in a much bigger plan apart from our singular lives. God gives us this opportunity to join Him in the eternal workings of the universe, taking part in fulfilling prophecies and actualizing visions God has given to others. We can see how a single act of obedience connects the whole body of Christ.  Matthew 2:14 says, "So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt."(NIV).

It is important for us to put into action, without delay, the word of God. Isaiah 55:11 says, "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Take that step, whether it is opening a business, a school, volunteering in a church, or a mission. God's Voice is always timely and comes with resources.

Our prayer today is that God may work in our hearts that we may be able to trust in him completely. We pray that God may help us to take the first step and take it with boldness. We thank God for allowing us to take part in His eternal works. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
