Matthew 27:25
"And all the people answered and said, 'His blood be on us and on our children.'"
Steal, kill, and destroy, those are the three things the enemy comes to do [John 10:10]. In Mathew 27, we see the account of Jesus from the betrayal by Judas to the Crucifixion on the cross. A question one would ask is, why such a strong hatred for Jesus when all He did benefited the people greatly? There must be something else, a hidden compulsion pushing the priests, scribes, and the crowd.
Ephesians 6:12 says ", For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." We have to be aware of how we make our decisions, who influences us, and if it is pleasing to God. In Mathew 27:25, we see how the people had been blinded by their own mortal desires. They would rather release Barabbas, a notorious criminal with a record, than Jesus Christ. Am sure reading this now, most of us are like How come the people could not clearly see the difference. Truth is, we are at the same place they were right now.
Are there any places in your life where you have allowed the enemy to blind you? Closing doors God had chosen for you? relationships, all this because of mortal desires that do not please God. In ancient Philosophy, there are five poisons mentioned: greed, anger, ignorance, pride, and envy. All this directly poisons the humans they dwell with, with a deadly dosage. The enemy is always looking for opportunities to compromise your mind, stand, and intelligence; more so on the things of God. We have to be vigilant. 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
Our prayer today is that God, you may open our eyes, help us not to be blinded by the enemy, and help us not to be blinded by our own selfish desires. We pray that you may draw closer to us and be our shepherd and guide, our very present help, in Jesus’ name, Amen
"Open the eyes of my heart Lord "
