Matthew 1:20
"But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’"
You can only imagine the pressure and stress Joseph was going through at this point. We live in a time where couples have divorced because of things minor than this. Matthew 1:19 says, "Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly." This seemed like the perfect remedy to the situation: you divorce and keep Mary from public discrimination. Yet, it would be contrary to the will of God. When encountering difficulties, the human learned nature is to find a quick fix, just as Joseph had. This is not what God desires of us
God wants us to seek Him in times of fear and in times of Joy. This means your secret place with God is vital for your spiritual and physical life. We have been accustomed to a subconsciously driven analysis and "fix", all this by our own strength. So many times we go against the will of God for our lives by trying our own "Duct tape". In some cases, we even wage war on the same prayers we prayed. Let us strive to work in partnership with God. Our prayer today is for God to purify our hearts and renew our minds. We pray for the restoration of the awareness of the kingdom of God and His plan for our lives. We pray that God may build in us an automatic desire to seek him in times of fear and times of Joy. Amen..
