Verse Annotation

Verse 1 - What does it mean to trust in God? How can we actively trust in Him in all our situations? How can we trust Him in the humanly deemed impossible? | Trust in God begins from faith in God. This faith was not initiated by our own hands, but through God’s election of Salvific grace, we are able to desire the things of God. Our faith is a result of this gracious gift. Faith will undoubtedly be tested time after time, but this testings are not beyond what you can bear. Day by day, our faith in God is increased, inevitably increasing our trust in Him because we have had a journey with God; He has taken us through many trials and tribulations before and made us victorious. How much so in the current situation? Our trust in God is not just a one-time incident; it is the result of a personal relationship and journey with God. Those who desire to trust in God must have a personal relationship with Him and a continuous, daily journey that is filled with the fruits of the Spirit.      

Verse 2 - One thing we can be sure of as those in Christ is persecution in all forms. This can be the HOA coming against your bible study group on Saturdays, Your Child’s school trying to constantly indoctrinate him with secular views, your friends disassociating from you because you’re a Christian, or being fired because of your Christian views. “Let us not grow weary in doing good,” just as the Bible commands us in Galatians 6:9. “For in due season we shall reap if we faint not”

Verse 3 - Where have you built your foundation? Is it in banks, assets, or relationships? There is only one foundation that does not crumble even in times of shaking, and that is our Rock, Jesus Christ.

Verse 4 - God is and will forever be on the Throne, regardless of situations that may come by. God is sovereign over all that will ever be. We do not serve a God who is surprised by new intel every now and then. We serve a God who has already provided for what His sons need tomorrow, next month, and even next year.

Verse 5 - God will take us through some situations that may feel oppressive and unbearable, but His hand will never leave us; He will never forsake us. This journey will make us stronger and increase our faith and trust in God. May we not succumb to the pleasures of this world, the flesh of the Devil, and join the wicked in an unrighteous merry spree: this God hates.

Verse 6 - All of us are subject to an eternal judgment; all our lives do matter and eternally count. Whether we believe in God or not, we will be accountable. We do not serve a God who is not created by our belief or lack of belief in Him. Let us not trivialize this matter but walk in awareness that our actions now do count eternally

Verse 7 - Our God, the I AM, is righteous. He loves righteousness and those who walk in it. May we be found faithful to His decrees at all times. God has shown us what is pleasing to Him; may righteousness overflow and be part of our lifestyle.

Reflection

Many people in the Bible went through dark times and times of great uncertainty. We remember Elijah reaching a place where he thought he was the last one remaining; we remember Job going through disasters back to back, even cursing the day he was born; we see David being chased by Saul in a very complex political and relational situation; we also see Jesus Christ praying for the cup to be taken away from Him.

As Christians, our journey is filled with ups and downs; however, what separates those who walk in faith and those who have stagnated in faith is what I like to call The Great Action. Among the people I mentioned above, one thing is common: they all chose obedience to God and reliance on God over the grim situation they were going through or would still go through. They all chose to take THE GREAT ACTION over complacency to their feelings and visible norms. This is our schematic; this is what we should follow as our guideline. Let us endeavor to take THE GREAT ACTION at all times, seeing as this acts increase our faith and trust in the Lord. 

PRAYER

Dear God, we thank you for your grace and mercy; we thank you for your continuous presence in our lives even in our moments of weakness. We pray that you may help us not to give in to our physically visible situation but to surrender and walk in the spiritual reality that you have decreed over us. We pray that you may continue to define us and shelter us under your wings, in your presence
