Verse Annotation
Verse 1 -4 - We pray that God may grant us His mercy in all our shortcomings
Verse 5 - Our worship and praise to God should not be postponable. Much more so as we are alive, we ought to praise God every opportunity we get, whether it is driving to work safe of waking up with no pains 7 days a week.
Verse 6 -7 - May the Lord strengthen us even when we feel overcome by our enemies.
Verse 8 - 10 - We must distance ourselves from all those who celebrate doing evil, for we have been forgiven by God and therefore cannot continue in sin, nor its company
Reflection
Sometimes life can feel like a high drive on a constant 120mph. This can cause us to put many things on the back burner, which eventually leads to complete neglect. When circumstances seem to be getting the upper hand, let us not give in to the inclination to put our pursuit of the things of God on the back burner. Rather, we ought to get deeper into the things of God, have more worship moments, more time in the secret place with God, and more time in the public place with God as well. Our spiritual life should not be determined by our physical life; our physical life should ever be subject to our spiritual life
Verse 8 - 10 Now that God has heard our cry and forgiven us our sins, we must distance ourselves from those who rejoice in evil with no remorse. This can be pulling out from your friend group, pulling out from your hangout group, or even from message platforms. We cannot afford to negotiate our salvation because of the fear of seclusion or desertion. The wrath of God will fall on those who do evil, and when that happens, let us be sure to be at a safe distance. We must always pray for all around us to seek the lord but let our interaction with them be guided and intentional.
PRAYER
God, thank you for giving us life. We pray that you may help us to know how to conduct our relationships, especially with those you have called us to distance ourselves from. We desire to please you and walk in your ways. Give us the strength to do that which you have commanded us to do. May we be humble and peaceful as doves but also wise as serpents. We pray for all those around us who rejoice in sin, we commit them in your hands and ask that you may open their eyes in Jesus mighty name that they may be able to see you and follow your commands.
In Jesus name, Amen
