REFLECTION

For all who have ever been in a position of authority, you are very familiar with a false sense of power and control that occasionally quickly sets in. As humans, we have a tendency to use the little power we have to try and usurp a bigger power; we seem to never get satisfied, even when we have all that we need. This comes back to bite us when we try to use our minuscule power to try to usurp God’s power or authority in our lives. We try, in vain, to take authority from God; some of us have even made it into our lives a purpose. Sadly, many of us aren’t even aware we are taking part in this vain, hostile takeover; it has become numb and subconscious.

We are reminded in this chapter to serve and submit to God at all times, exercising wisdom in order not do decisive ourselves and think we can execute an eternal hostile takeover. There is a joy, a peace, and grace that comes when one is fully serving God, surrendered to his will and not our own, and committed to His eternal purpose and not our own. In this manner, we will be offering our lives as a living sacrifice.

PRAYER

Thank you Jesus, for your mercy and grace. Even when we were deceived by our own emotions, you were still there with us and guided us into eternal emancipation. We pray that you may make us bold, committed, unwavering, and unwary in our walk with you.

In Jesus Name, Amen
