Verse Annotation
Verse 1 - 2 - Come into his presence with thanksgiving, rejoice in the Lord, Exodus 15:1 “Then Moses sang—and the sons of Israel—this song to YHWH, and they spoke, saying: “I will sing to YHWH, for He has greatly triumphed; the horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea.”
Verse 3 - 5 - We are vindicated by THE Righteous Judge, God. Through acts and words, he rebukes and judges nations and people.
Verse 6 - Those who practice evil have their end set out. They are utterly undone, their walls will never be repaired 1 Sa 15:3- 7
Verse 8 - 10 - The Lord is our refuge. We who know and seek him should daily put our trust in Him ( Psalms 55:22)
Verse 20 - Let not our rebellion against God come from our own pride in self. We are creatures, and we definitely do not want God to remind us of our standing as men. Those who continue in evil will be made aware that they are just men.
Reflection
Much of today’s media, entertainment, and activities are focused on creating the notion that we are more than men to an extent. This is true because, as the Bible tells us in Romans 8:17, we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. In our own abilities, we are just men, or as I would like to call it, the creature. For the longest time, the world has had this notion that removing God from our minds, from our activities, from daily operations will grant us freedom. To their own shock and admission, the removal of God from our minds, thoughts, and daily activities has not cost great freedom, but statistically increased depression and problems with one's identity, mentally and physically
The devil will always try to make you think you are something you’re not or you’re not something you are, It is Paramount to us as Christians to always seek God‘s definition of who we are at all times we cannot allow the enemy to define who we are or who you’re not all this must come from God once we allow the enemy the wild or our flesh to determine who we are then we’ve opened doors for pride, selfishness, and self pleasure. Ultimately, if one defines themselves, they are more prone to define themselves according to their own comfort, perceived ability, and desire, but these other things God uses to define us. So let us take the opportunity today to ask God, " Who am I? What is my purpose, and what do you want me to do? Let us also pray that God may reveal to us any places where we have allowed the enemy to define us, because once we leave those definitions and check them, then God will ultimately come to us and let us know who we are in ways we might not enjoy
PRAYER
Thank you, Jesus for dying for us on the cross and giving us a new identity. We pray that you may show us any areas of our lives where we’ve allowed the enemy to define us, to define our abilities. Our capabilities are our understanding rebuke any Identity acceptance that comes from the wild, our own flesh, or the devil, and we ask you to show us today who we are.
In Jesus name, Amen
